From our President Mrs Gilly Drummond OBE, It is with great regret that the death has been announced of Lord Bruce-Lockhart (Sandy), Chairman of English Heritage after a long illness.
Sandy was a rare individual, an experienced and skilled politician with a passion and very practical commitment to  the historic and natural heritage.  He was farsighted, wonderfully kind and had immense charm.  He will be very much missed by the entire heritage sector and particularly by those involved in parks, gardens, the designed settings of listed buildings and the public realm as he was a strong supporter of this aspect of the work of English Heritage and through them of the voluntary sector.
